Sometimes the best way to fight the undead is keeping your teammates from becoming one of them. Armed with a Stim Pistol, Medics can heal fellow survivors from a distance and help keep the chaos under control.

The Medic is one of eight playable classes for Co-op Campaign in World War Z.

Overview[]

The Medic is a class that greatly focuses on keeping others alive and healthy for the longest time possible.

A lot of the Medic's perks revolve around the Medkit or their equipment. Other perks focus on reviving teammates or keeping them alive for as long as possible. This overspecialization on treating others makes the Medic less adept for killing zekes compared to the rest of the classes available. This even extends to the fact that the Medic does not have an associated/related heavy weapon best suited for them. Choosing the Medic means you are committed to your teammates' safety, meaning you will bear the most responsibility when it comes to mending their injuries before, during, and after a fight.

The Medic's starting core perk grants a passive buff where the use of a Medkit on others will heal you in return with a 25% effectiveness. Complementing this buff, the perk also grants a free Medkit at the start of the game. This is especially helpful in harder difficulties where Medkits become scarcer to find and other players do not get to start off with one. The buff lets the Medic benefit when they heal others, leading to a greater distribution of health.

The equipment of choice for the Medic is the Stim Pistol. This medical tool grants its user or chosen teammate a temporary health boost. The added fake health slowly depletes over time but damage suffered while under its effect will be transferred to it first before your regular health. This allows the Medic and others to absorb more damage, allowing for quick saves or having a better chance of getting out of sticky situations.

History[]

March 28, 2024 patch (the "Thrill of the Kill" update):

  • 4 new prestige perks were added. Each of them was appended to one of the 4 existing columns of perks with a red background. They are unlocked at prestige levels 6–9.
  • The new perks were: "Empathy II", "Remote Healthcare II", "Hypervitaminosis", and "Paramedic II".
