Documents are collectables that are found in World War Z. They were added in with the release of World War Z: Aftermath.
These recordings, transcriptions, and notes left by people from all walks of life help flesh out the ongoing zombie war, providing details, information, and further insight from each respective location of the world.
Overview[]
Documents can only be collected during daily and weekly challenges. During a challenge, documents are mainly a small side objective. Players must find a document hidden in only a few of the numerous document spots in a chapter. Once found and collected, players must complete the level to earn document progress. Documents will not be lost on death, but failing the challenge will make everyone lose their document progress.
The document appears as a file containing partially redacted information inside a white folder. When hunting for documents, keep in mind that most documents will be obscured and hidden within the level. Most documents are placed behind objects and environmental props, shielding them from immediate sight. However, some blend into their location and hide in plain sight.
Stories[]
In every episode, each chapter includes 3 document sets. Each set requires 3 separate documents to unlock it for a total of 9 documents to complete it. A short story is unlocked for every 3 documents collected.

| Sign in Grocery Store Window |
|---|
| [A printed sign stuck to a shattered window of a grocery store, stripped bare of all valuable supplies] |
| To our loyal customers, neighbors and anyone in need,
Patricia and I have made the difficult decision to leave the city. We know that we have far more than we can take with us, and there are many of you out there in desperate need at the moment. We invite you to take what you require, but also ask that you are considerate of the many other people in the same situation as yourselves and only take what you absolutely need to survive. When this crisis has ended, we hope to return to work and continue to serve our community as we have done for the last 14 years. Good luck everyone. Stay safe. Patricia and Evan Habberford |

| Fellow New Yorkers!
Get your arses street side and follow the signs to my metro station. I've got an armoured train, loaded with supplies, bound for freedom town! I've already carried hundreds, thousands of passengers out of Manhattan and into the safety of the North where my people are waiting to take you all the way to Canada. So what are you waiting for? Leave the post-apocalyptic life behind and head for Uncle Stevie! |

| Please send help!
We are a group of 6, stranded on the 10th floor of the Atterson Building on 35th St. We have barricaded ourselves in and are holding on as best we can. None of us are bitten and we are all in good health. We have a moderate supply of canned foods, but the building has lost water pressure and our drinking water is starting to run low. We're willing to share anything we have with anyone that is able to help us evacuate the city. We don't know if there are other survivors in our building, but we can hear those things on the floors above and below. We know how dangerous it is out there and we want to work together with other survivors. |

| Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital Patient Report |
|---|
| Physician: Dr. Catherine Smiles Patient Name: Steven Maier Diagnosis: Patient was referred to this ward by the courts after his acquittal on a charge of murder in the second degree. The acquittal was granted based on a diagnosis of acute psychosis. I disagree with this diagnosis. In my observation, Mr. Maier exhibits clear evidence of criminal malingering. He insists that he is the reincarnation of the 17th-century pirate Captain William Kidd. He often launches into venomous rants about the East India Trading Company and has been caught smuggling prescription drugs out of the ward. Mr. Maier is currently in solitary confinement, where he spends his time playing with a miniature subway train that he may have stolen from another patient. After interviewing Mr. Maier numerous times, I am of the opinion that his psychosis is an elaborate show, concocted to avoid serving prison time. He is, in fact, an intelligent, coherent but malicious individual who takes great pleasure in deceiving those around him. |

| My name was Andrew Willcox. I was 32 years old. I had a wife, Susan, and a daughter, Rebecca, who was 9. We loved camping and singing 80's songs in the car. I'm a photographer, family portraits mostly. My wife worked in sales but dreamed of being a journalist. Rebecca wanted to be a dancer. We had a simple life, but it was real. We loved each other. We really loved each other. There's a photo of us on the back of this card.
Good luck to you, to all of you. |

We are cops, firefighters, bankers, schoolteachers, salespeople... ordinary citizens, just like you, and we are making a difference. This week we killed 84 zeke. Adriana Lopez holds the high score this week, with a kill count of 9 (she used to be a dance instructor!) We are all volunteers. We're doing this for our families and for our country. Look for the RV sign on buildings to find us. We're stronger together. Together, we will TAKE THIS CITY BACK!! |

| Men of honour!
You are the finest America has to offer. You have trained for this moment, and you have the full might of the US Military behind you. Fire will rain down from the skies, incinerating the enemy in a blaze of glory. We shall spit forth a hail of bullets that will cut the monstrosities into shreds. By the close of day, we will have reclaimed this land in the name of our great nation, and each of you will return home with a story to tell that will live on for generations to come. This is your day, soldier. |

| Think you can run? Think again.
The zeke are terrifyingly fast. Whatever kind of strange biology is going on in that living corpse, it's a powerhouse of adrenaline. I've seen zeke that could knock a whole second off the 100m world record. Don't depend on speed to escape the zeke. The zeke are faster, stronger and have much more stamina than any human. If you want to beat a zeke, you need the one thing they have in very short supply: BRAINS! |

| PLAN! Plan for every possibility. Got a plan B? You're dead. Plan C, D and E? Dead!!
If you enter a room that has only one way out, it's goodnight. If you turn a corner and find a brick wall, game over. You need multiple exit strategies for every turn, every room, every rooftop. Set traps and LABEL THEM CLEARLY. The zeke can't read, but you may save the life of another survivor. Hide small bottles of water, snacks and weapons at key locations in case you find yourself in a fix, and STAY ALERT! |

| Hey you,
I was a kid once, and where I was living was a pretty scary place too, but I was strong, like you, and I survived. Keep your eyes and ears sharp, listen, watch, see and hear everything. Gather information, remember it (grownups have terrible memories!). We're going to get through this, and it's going to be because of kids like you. You're the real heroes. |

| SOUND!
A lot of people carry noisemakers on them: bells, alarm clocks etc, but these have a limited use [sic] and often don't work if the zeke have you in sight. You need to take distraction to the next level... You've already read about exit strategies. Part of the trick here is to have a series of distractions that can draw away the zeke when you're in a jam. You've crossed the rooftop, pulled away the cross board and rappelled into the top floor window. The zeke still know roughly where you are. They'll keep after you until they have a better target. You want cables leading from your saferoom window to large objects placed on rooftops or window ledges across the street. One pull and a filing cabinet comes crashing down onto the street. Now the zeke have noise and movement to get their attention. They'll abandon you and head for the cabinet! Let's hope they have dental insurance! Ouch! |

| Request to Leave the City |
|---|
| [letter addressed to Jerusalem municipality] |
| Dear Secretary,
I understand the position of the municipality to admit citizens from across the region, but do you not see that you are creating the conditions for total disaster [sic]? The motives are entirely humanitarian, I know, and I respect your aims, but every day we allow thousands of people to enter the city, not to mention the many tens of thousands that are now gathering outside the walls. It is only a matter of time before an infection rips through those people like wildfire, putting us all in danger. I have my sources, and I know the true face of this "infection." I keep my mouth shut only to avoid widespread panic. It is my human right to be permitted to leave this city if I so desire, and so I ask you, as an old family friend, to make arrangements for me to be allowed through the gates. I will not speak of such an agreement to anyone, you have my word. Yours sincerely, Professor Nathaniel Periera |
| Deathmonger! |

| We know what you're doing in there! Your government thugs push us around whenever we ask for information, but we know. We've seen you in your lab at night, coming up with new ways to kill us. The news keeps telling us this is a new strain of rabies. Bullshit! Rabies doesn't make people climb out of their graves! You did this! Your henchmen can only protect you for so long. We're coming for you. When we get into that lab of yours, we'll have all the proof we need to make sure your head is paraded around the city for being the deathmonger you are! |

| Application for emergency evacuation |
|---|
| To the office of the British Consulate-General,
I am writing to you today to respectfully implore your help in an urgent matter. I appreciate in these desperate days you must be inundated with requests for assistance and I can only imagine trying to decide which handful of people you will be able to help from the countless applications you receive. My name is Dr. Peter Clarke and I am a professor of applied physics. For many years, I had been working at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, collaborating with the country's leading minds in aerospace engineering. I believe the work we have conducted will be of immense benefit to the world in the coming weeks and months, but the time has come for me to return home to Oxfordshire. I know that you still have the ability to arrange passage back to England, and I beg you, please let me return home. Let me be with my family, as I fear this may be my last chance to see them. Respectfully yours, |

| Scrawled Note - Final Words |
|---|
| If anyone ever finds this, you've got the right idea.
My name is Aluf Avi Odeh and I am -- was -- overseeing IDF operations here at the Rah-ahm facility. When the short-sighted cowards at the Ministry of Defense pulled their support of our program, my team and I made our last stand here to keep things operational for as long as we could. |
| Base Security Memo |
|---|
| [printed memo found taped to a door in the Rah-ahm base] |
| This is the third time I have had to make myself clear. DO NOT under any circumstances allow civilians to enter the base. You cannot imagine the risk this poses to our efforts here. This is not a matter of government secrecy; it is a matter of national security! If this base is lost then we will have no hold in the area and will lose a critical communications node that will prove essential in coordinating the efforts of other forces around the area. ALL civilians are to be directed away from the base. Use force if necessary. DO NOT distribute bottled water and supplies from the base. Word will quickly spread and we will have crowds begging for handouts. Anyone caught disobeying this order will be thrown in a cell. |
| Written Warning |
|---|
| [printed letter signed by Rah-ahm base commander] |
| Dr. Greengold,
Your position here grants you a certain amount of security, but do not think yourself irreplaceable. If you are caught using cannabis again, I will have no option but to recommend your dismissal from this project. After an internal investigation, we found that Private Melamed has been supplying you with the drug in question. You should know that he has been dishonorably discharged and faces up to a two-year prison sentence. I am personally very disappointed in you. An intelligent man such as yourself should know better. |

| A wide-scale expansion of the Single Register is now in effect. For the protection of all Russian citizens, all non-state sanctioned media communications will be prevented from television and radio broadcast. In addition, various non-essential functionality of the Internet will be restricted until further notice.
Any attempts to circumvent the current restrictions will be viewed as a crime against the Federation, and perpetrators will be punished accordingly, to the full extent of the law. Official government announcements will continue unaffected. Thank you for your attention and I wish you a pleasant day. |
| Aim For The Head |
|---|
| [Updated Police Procedures Memo] |
| In the interests [sic] of ensuring a zombie has been permanently incapacitated, we need to make sure the brain has been destroyed. Body shots and dismemberment may slow them down, but they will continue attempting to attack until their head has been destroyed. When possible, aim for their heads. A single bullet should be enough to destroy a single zombie. Until they are permanently incapacitated in such a way, they will still pose a threat to you, your fellow officers and your local community.

| Do Not Try To Save Them |
|---|
| [Updated Police Procedures Memo] |
| We are still receiving reports that some officers are occasionally trying to incapacitate zeke instead of destroying them. This is in direct opposition to the newest operational guidelines. We understand that many officers will encounter zombies of people they may have known from their local area but this is not an excuse to put the safety of your fellow officers and other remaining survivors at risk.

| Safer Underground |
|---|
| [A handwritten letter with a crudely drawn map] |
| Listen Erik,
I know it might not sound like the most comfortable place to stay, but I've heard there is an entire community of survivors with weeks' worth of supplies barricaded in a nearby underground car park. I've been told that you just need to bring whatever weapons and supplies you can and be willing to help out on the occasional scavenging run. If there's only one way in, then there's only one entrance that needs to be secure! It's basically like a bomb shelter. I've drawn a map to follow. I really hope you make it. Feel free to make copies of this map and hand them out. |

| To all priests and chaplains across our Holy Russian Empire,
And so God has spoken. That cross will now be carried by us, the chaplains and priests, all members of the clergy to the Patriarch himself are now responsible for performing the Final Purification of our brave infected soldiers. Go forth in the light, serve God and together our people will win this holy war. |
| Stick Together |
|---|
| [Updated Police Procedures Memo] |
| It is vital that all attempts are made to remain with your partner at all times throughout your shift. Your job now is to keep everyone safe while removing the zombie threat - and this includes your partner! There have been too many recent reports of officers splitting up during a routine search of a building only to be attacked, bitten or killed by a zombie. If we are not protecting our partners, we are not protecting our police force.

| Who's A Good Boy? |
|---|
| [Updated Police Procedures Memo] |
| Now more than ever, we need to be listening to our K9 units when out on patrol. If you are lucky enough to be working with a police dog and their handler, it is vital you follow their lead on all infected-related decisions. We have received countless reports of our K9 units being able to detect zombie presence from a much greater distance than human officers. Their senses of smell and hearing are perfectly suited for this role and you would be doing them, and yourself, a great disservice to think you know better in these instances. |
| Not Safe Here |
|---|
| [Handwritten letter with a crudely drawn map stuck to the wall near an underground car park] |
| Mila,
I followed your instructions and found the settlement in ruins. Worse than that, everybody had turned, at least everybody I could see. I didn't risk my neck going any deeper into the carpark [sic] than I could safely see from street level. I hope that you were out on one of the salvage runs you mentioned when this place was lost. If you do return and find this, follow these directions to where I am staying. I'm in a top floor [sic] apartment with 4 other survivors. We are able to distract the zeke toward the front door and sneak out the back when we need supplies. Turns out two entrances are better than one! |

| Homura's Journal Entry |
|---|
| [A page ripped from a journal] |
| 29th April, 2016.
Two days have passed since the Emperor's announcement. My heart sank to think of leaving my home, to know our entire nation has fallen and our last chance for survival is evacuation, but from what I can see outside, I don't believe there is any other way. |
| Recruitment Poster |

| [One of many Rescue Team recruitment posters found around Tokyo] |
| To assist in the imminent evacuation of our city, teams of able-bodied survivors are being assembled. Do you have what it takes to help those in need? Do you work well with others? Are you willing to risk your own safety for the safety of others?

| Rescue Team 2 Field Report - 01 |
|---|
| 27 April, 2016
Upon completion of our first shift, assisting in the evacuation of residents in Tokyo, I can report the following statistics: These statistics can be corroborated by my 2IC. We will return to active duty after our mandatory 3-hour rest period. |
Chapter 2: Final Call[]
| Homura's Journal Entry |
|---|
| [A loose page from a journal] |
| 30th April, 2016.
Even amongst all the horrible things I have seen over the last few days, getting to the evacuation checkpoint was by far the most harrowing thing that has ever happened to me! Sakurako and I only just managed to sneak our way through the streets to the bus depot. She had some fireworks for the Sumidagawa festival, and we used them to draw most of the dead away from our path - but one of the dead jumped on her as we were rounding a corner. I knew she had trained in Aikido for years, but I have never seen her fight like that before! |
| Evacuation Bus Schedule |
|---|
| Dear Valued Customers and Commuters,
In the absence of available buses, the next returning bus will depart as soon as it has refueled. The elderly and those that have been in line the longest will be offered the first available seats on the returning buses. Please be patient with our staff and volunteers, as we are doing everything we can to help you evacuate safely. |
| Rescue Team 2 Field Report - 42 |
|---|
| 29 April, 2016
Upon completion of our 42nd shift, assisting in the evacuation of residents in Tokyo, I can report the following statistics: Additional Comment: We have encountered numerous cases of elderly citizens refusing to be evacuated, instead wanting to remain in their homes. Their reasoning is generally along the lines of, "I would only slow you down," [sic] or, "Protect our young." [sic] As instructed, we have not attempted to evacuate any unwilling residents. We will return to active duty after our mandatory 45-minute rest period. |
Chapter 3: Cruise Control[]
| Homura's Journal Entry |
|---|
| [A page torn from a journal] |
| 2nd May, 2016.
Well we finally made it! Against all odds, Sakurako and I made it aboard The Jewel of the Pacific, safe and sound. It was the last transport ship to leave port! We are sharing a cabin with a boy called Genzo and his grandmother. There is such a deep sadness in his eyes and I can tell he has lost much, but he is kind and very respectful - not to mention cute! Yesterday we chatted for hours about what our lives were like before, and what our hopes for the future were. He's so sweet and caring! |
| Military Checkpoint Procedure |
|---|
| There has been a recent increase in evacuees trying to smuggle bitten family members and friends through checkpoints. It is essential that all checkpoint personnel remain vigilant in the inspection of those attempting to travel to evacuation points.
- Any evacuee displaying signs of unexplained wounds are to immediately be separated from their travelling companions, regardless of family status, and inspected by a medical officer. |

Be aware, a full medical examination will be conducted before you will be [sic] admitted and granted residency within any of the forts around the city. If you are able, make your way to Fort de Bouc, Fort de Niolon, Fort Saint-Jean or Fort Saint-Nicolas. We are stronger together. |
| Ancient Prayer |

| [letter found behind ancient brickwork within Fort Saint-Nicolas] |
| Though the enemies of the Lord seek to extinguish the Word, though they crawl across the earth [sic] like living carrion seeking out souls for the devil, I shall not falter in my service. I will stand like the peak of a towering mountain, denying even the clouds to enter my holy Mansion, kept only for the Lord.
With this prayer I protect this ground with my very soul. Long after my mortal form has passed, my spirit will remain here, always in the service of the Truth. Guillaume Laudin, Knights Hospitaller |

| Is anyone still out there still [sic]? We are. Not out there, but we're in here. In here with the wine in the cellar. It used to smell quite musty in here [sic] when we first got in here, but now in here [sic] it smells much worse than it did before. Claude says there isn't anyone left alive out there in the outside, outside of this cellar. Please, if you are alive, come to the cellar and find me. I can give you wine. I have lots of wine, but not as much wine as I used to have. Claude doesn't drink anywhere near as much as he did when he was alive. And I don't have very much food. I would like some more food please. And some company. I don't want to be alone with Claude anymore. He keep [sic] staring at me and I can tell he's even more hungry than I am. Thank god [sic] he's pinned beneath the barrels.

| Fort Saint-Jean Evacuation Announcement |
|---|
| [Transcript of broadcasts over a shortwave radio frequency in the vicinity of the Old Port area of Marseille] |
| Message A was repeated for precisely 10 minutes:
All residents of Fort Saint-Jean, you must evacuate immediately! It is anticipated the fort will be overwhelmed within the hour. All residents are to arm themselves and assemble at evacuation points 3 or 5. I repeat, arm yourselves and assemble at evacuation points 3 or 5 for immediate exodus and resettlement at Fort Saint-Nicolas. Due to the recent structural damage to the outer walls, Fort Saint-Jean is no longer secure enough to withstand the coming swarm. Arm yourselves and be ready for immediate evacuation. Message B was repeated for approximately an hour: |

Chapter 3: Last Bastion[]
| Maritime Distress Call |
|---|
| [Transcript of maritime VHF radio call] |
| [Speaker 1] Pan pan, pan pan, pan pan. This is motor vessel Last Strand, Last Strand, Last Strand, a silver Breeze-Walker 48 private fishing charter! Our position is 43°15'35N 3°46'19E. We have broken impeller [sic] and are adrift without engines! Is anyone is [sic] able to reach us and provide maintenance? We have supplies and space aboard our vessel to offer sanctuary.
[Speaker 2] (faint) Jean! Look! |
| Military Field Report |
|---|
| 4 April 2017
Our unit, primarily consisting of 3 VR6 LTVs and what was left of the 1st FC Regiment, successfully delivered a cache of storage units containing munitions to the drop point at Cours Julien with the intention of fortifying the 3rd Division's defensive perimeter around the square. |
| Journal Entry: Making Zombie Pancakes |
|---|
| So the “Lemmings” plan seems to have merit, [sic] but just needs a bit more tweaking. On my way back to the fort after a long night of scavenging, I managed to get myself pinned on the bridge of Corniche Kennedy. I had quite a pack following me, maybe 25 or 30. I couldn't have been more than halfway across the bridge when I noticed just as many standing around on the other side. Running out of time to plan a better escape, I dropped the supplies I'd found and jumped off the bridge. Thank god [sic] the tide was in! It must have been a combination of pain, frustration and exhaustion that made me scream when I resurfaced, but it was enough to draw their attention. Those brain dead [sic] fuckers jumped right on in after me! I floated there laughing to myself for a while, until I noticed the writhing pile forming beneath the surface.

Rome[]
Chapter 1: Holy Ground[]
| Edict From Commander of Rome |
|---|
| [One of many posters plastered around Roman survivor strongholds] |
| 4 August 2017
Effective immediately, all active squads are to reprioritize previous orders in regards to zombie eradication and salvaging of supplies. Squads are no longer instructed to actively seek out and destroy enemy targets, instead they are only authorized to engage enemies for the purpose of defending strongholds and in the preservation of life in the field. Ammunition is to be conserved and stockpiled for an upcoming, large-scale offensive push. Squads are to prioritize the salvaging of electrical and audio equipment, specifically devices used for public address (such as loudspeakers, etc.) and amplification devices (such as those used at live music venues, etc.). All such devices are also to be stockpiled as part of the same upcoming offensive. From the desk of Commander Alesandro [sic] Peron |
| Request For Weapon Suppressors |
|---|
| Hey Vesta,
I'm not sure who I should be speaking to about this, but I thought you'd be as good a person as anyone. Look, I've heard rumors about what Minerva has planned and my sources say that Peron has already signed off on it. I'm not worried by the plan in itself, in fact it actually “sounds” quite genius. I knew Minerva had been planning something special for a while, but this? Ha! Anyway, I was thinking that for this whole scheme to come together, it might be worthwhile getting noise suppressors fitted as standard issue for all squads involved in the operation? [sic] Some of us have scrounged them already, but for this plan to be as effective as possible everyone else should be as quiet as possible, right? Maybe run the idea past Signore Peron and try get [sic] him to think it was his idea! |
| Goodbye Letter |
|---|
| My dearest Carla,
But you were right, and now I'm trapped and alone. We're so close to seeing our plan realized and because of it, the end of the war is potentially within sight. But my last hours or minutes will be without you, hoping and praying that you'll be alright and that you somehow survive his [sic] hell. You were right. I never told you that enough. I'm sorry I'm not there with you. With all my love always, |
Chapter 2: Call to Arms[]
| Partially Burnt Letter |
|---|
| Hey Luca,
What the hell bullshit is this? They're telling attack squads not to attack because they need to conserve ammunition? They're sending out engineering squads out into the field without escort, into areas that haven't been cleared because the attack squads aren't attacking! It's madness! All the while just saying, “it's for the greater good, it's all part of the master plan, soon the war will be over.” Of course the war will be over soon, because we'll all be dead! Has Signore Peron finally lost his damn mind? Look, I know people have always talked a lot of shit about him in the past, because of those rumors of corruption before the collapse, but what he's ordering now is straight up going to end this city! I don't know why Vesta doesn't just challenge him for control already. Surely she knows literally EVERYONE is behind her? |
| Urgent Request from Minerva Squad |
|---|
| To the Office of Commander Peron,
We can appreciate your enthusiasm to end this war but we may only get one shot at a plan like this and we should endeavour to ensure we get it right the first time. Yours, on behalf of Minerva Squad, |
| Vulcan Squad Mayday Call |

| [Transcript of final radio transmission from Vulcan squad] |
| Vulcan1: (Heavy gunfire) Vesta, do you copy? (static) God dammit! I don't know if you can hear me, or if my radio's busted... (static) -you're reading me, Vulcan squad are [sic] in desperate need of immediate support! We're pinned down near (static) -just south of the Tiber! We still have Minerva, but Vulcan has taken (static) -casualties! (screeching) Get back you sons of bitches! (static) Minerva, get inside now and- (static) Vesta, we're not going to make it. (static) ...ucking Peron told us (static) cleared yesterday! Vesta, if you can (static) me, tell Peron he's a fu... (static) ...hole!

Chapter 3: The Final Push[]
| Unofficial Military Commendation |
|---|
| To all members of Saturn, Apollo, Vulcan and Tellos Squads,
As if you lot hadn't already done enough to make this city proud! |
| Red Zone Warning |
|---|
| [Posted on the outer gates of all active strongholds across Rome] |
| Warning to all squads and freelance scavengers:
If you are in need of medical assistance, please contact one of the many stronghold communities around the city and help can be arranged. |
| Memorial Service Announcement |
|---|
| It is with great sadness, [sic] we announce the loss of all members of Vulcan Squad: Sandro Arcuri, Donato Baresi, Emma Fontana and Nicole Peralta. Vulcan squad fought bravely defending the lives of Carla and Luca Esposito against insurmountable odds on the west bank of the Tiber. They were fierce warriors, compassionate protectors, loving husbands, wives and parents and all embodied the fighting spirit of our great city. They will all be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held next Sunday in the inner courtyard of the Garbatella stronghold at 10:00am [sic].
We will carry the flame in their memory. |
Kamchatka[]
Chapter 1: Dead of Winter[]
| Letter to Camp Avachinskiy |
|---|
| Hey Alexei,
So seems [sic] that Vasilli isn't completely full of shit after all! He'd had our whole group searching around the lower slopes of Avachinskaya aimlessly for weeks until we inevitably gave up. On the verge of starvation, he suggested we hit your camp one last time. As expected, the plan went to shit and we scattered, virtually empty handed [sic]. But while we were off licking our wounds, guess what we found? Of course it was nowhere near Avachinskaya, but we found it, a Soviet bunker locked up tight. I know you know what'll be in there: weapons, food, uniforms, beds and bedding, probably even generators and gasoline. We're still looking for a way in, but it won't be long now, there'll be some hidden access chamber or a ventilation shaft or something. |
| Mooring Permission Certificate |
|---|
| This document certifies that, at the request of the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transportation, the Japanese cruise vessel “The Jewel of the Pacific” has permission to moor at the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Avacha Bay.
Due to the unique nature of the current global crisis, The Federal Agency in consultation with the office of the local Harbor Master has concluded that the standard initial mooring fee and all subsequent taxes regarding ongoing mooring of the aforementioned vessel are to be waived. The owner of the vessel acknowledges they are responsible for all maintenance and upkeep costs while moored at the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and the local port authority is not liable for any damages incurred during the period of this certificate, or anytime thereafter. | Burial Grounds Expansion |
|---|
| [hand written [sic] letter from Japanese [sic] Kamchatka camp counsellor] |
| In the past few weeks, I have spent much time [sic] talking with our people. They sense the coming of a harsh winter. There are many elderly among us and they are no fools. They understand what will happen. Despite efforts [sic] to convince people that we are prepared for the cold, they see clearly the level of disrepair and the increase in the rationing of fuel.
There is a plot within the settlement, to the east, that can be prepared in advance to accommodate those that will pass. The people will take care of the work themselves, all we need is your authorization to begin. |
Chapter 2: On the Grid[]
| Request for Increased Maintenance Budget |
|---|
| 4 September 2015
Hi Maxim, Now before you jump down my throat, I know we don't have the budget for that, but we need to do something. I'm suggesting a thorough maintenance review for the entire network. Realistically, we should be able to scrape by for one more year on our current system, patching holes in the network as they appear (barring any unforeseen disasters) but what about after that? We can't have entire neighborhoods without heat when winter hits next year! I think we need to at least discuss additional funding support from the Ministry of Energy before we tell customers that their power bills are going to go up again. So there, I'm now officially on record having asked to upgrade our substation network and when the axe falls, it won't be on my neck. |

| Good prices paid for copper supplies.

| Coded Message |
|---|
| [coded message via satellite to Military Command [sic] ] |
| I am Captain Oleg Igorovich [sic] Belkov, acting commander of the TK-208 Dmitry Donskoy.
We have begun searching for the necessary components to repair the damage. The submarine base has been stripped clean by whoever came before us. We have enough food to last us several weeks. After that we will need to find new supplies. I have lost contact with the Navy. All other vessels operating in this area have gone silent. I suspect some of these have deserted. Our plan is to establish a temporary settlement here until we receive further instructions. [message end] |
Chapter 3: Atomic Alliance[]
| Russian Military Command Field Report |
|---|
| It began as an argument between Private V Pavlov and the Commander. Pavlov has a wife and daughter a hundred kilometers from here and he requested that they be allowed to live at the base. The commander refused. The argument grew heated, and Pavlov struck the commander, who then shot and killed Pavlov. The commander threatened similar punishment should anyone else step out of line.
I am the last person left at the base. After writing this report I will be forced to leave for lack of food and ammunition. I will take a radio with me and attempt to link up with another force, should I find them. Lieutenant Alexander Sergeivich Kamarov [sic] |
| Disciplinary Report |
|---|
| [printed report found in files of sub-base commander [sic] ] |
| I have today been made aware of the most outrageous story I have encountered in my thirty years of service.
By the grace of God, no one has been killed thus far. Six Russian flags now hang from the pylon. I find myself dumbstruck by the stupidity of these men. They have all been locked in the brig until I can think of that [sic] to do with them. And what is the reward for the fool that makes the run? A tattoo on his shoulder that reads "FEARLESS" with a poorly drawn skull beneath it. |
| Blackmail SMS |
|---|
| [SMS message found on the phone of a dead soldier at sub-base] |
| Igor, I know you've been selling base [sic] medical supplies and ammunition to those traders. Last night I hid in the vent in the store room and filmed you with my phone as you took antibiotics. I've given the phone with the video to a friend and told him what to do if anything happens to me. I'll keep my mouth shut but it's going to cost you. |
