The Assault Carbine (HW416) is a tier III primary weapon featured in World War Z.
Overview[]
The Assault Carbine, or HW416, is a full-auto rifle based on the real-life Heckler & Koch HK416 that fires 5.56×45mm NATO rounds. Since its design is based on the AR-15 platform, it may look similar to some of the Sporting Carbine versions.
Performance[]
The Assault Carbine is a tier III full-auto rifle that performs like a hybrid between an assault rifle and an SMG. In terms of firing rate, it is similar to unmodified versions of the following weapons: Senjata PDW, Compact SMG, and TMP5 SMG. In terms of accuracy, it's close to the semi-automatic Battle Rifle and the burst fire Bullpup Rifle. At level 5, it has 10 more bullets in the magazine than its tier II counterpart, the ARK-103 Assault Rifle (60 vs 50). Unlike the look-alike Sporting Carbine, it has low penetration power (1).
As a fast-firing, low-penetration weapon with large magazines and good accuracy, it is best utilized by Gunslingers with the "Front Line Supply" perk. Long streaks of headshots performed with this weapon will artificially inflate its magazine capacity beyond the default 60 rounds.
Unique Version[]
A custom version of the Assault Carbine with a unique design and more well-rounded stats that made it superior compared to its level 5 counterparts was available in the custom branch of upgrades. Since the Horde Mode XL update (released on January 24, 2023), this modification is purely cosmetic and does have any custom stats affecting the weapon's performance. This skin for the Assault Carbine can be equipped regardless of the weapon's current level.
